Using bammboo as material
Bamboo is the native plant of Southeast Asia. Nowadays, many folkcrafts made of bamboo are popular as the Asian crafts in Japan. There are various commodities such as baskets. We use some kinds of bamboo as material for the best use. The most often used bamboo is the Long-jointed bamboo that is called "Matake" in Japan. It is easy to process because its joint is long and soft.
One of materials of bamboo art is sooty bamboo. The name "sooty bamboo" doesn't express what sort of bamboo. It is often used for bamboo art since it have unique color and gloss. We can get it when straw-made roof of farmhouse is subdivided. It is smoked for hundred years by smoke from a fireplace. Meshed pattern is at a premium.
