斑竹とは表面に紫褐色などの斑紋のある竹の総称。清代の斑竹を使用した上節の茶杓で、切止は面取で共筒である。

Hanchiku Chashaku

  • length 18cm(7.08″)
  • The inscription is “Enrei”

Hanchiku is a name of bamboo which have mottled patterns in its surface. This Chashaku was made of Hanchiku in the period of the Qing Dynasty, and has a knot at the upper center.

中節の茶杓で節上と節下に煤竹の景色があり、切止は面取で共筒である。

「廣目天（広目天）」とは、梵語（サンスクリット語）における四天王の一人、廣目天王であり、西方世界を守護すると云われている。

Susudake Chashaku

  • length 18cm(7.08″)
  • The inscription is “Kōmoku-ten(廣目天)”

This Chasyaku　has a knot of a bamboo at the center and the patterns of Susudake at the top and the bottom.

Kōmoku-ten (or Virūpākṣa in Sanskrit) is one of “Four heavenly kings” in the Buddhist faith. The name means “He who sees all” and he watches over the west direction of the world.
