幅7~10mm程の煤竹を使用した風炉用の炭斗である。粗い麻の葉編みで底から編み、立ち上がりから胴の部分をざっくりと編み上げる。口造りは、下から編み上げた竹を芯として入れながら同じ竹で巻き、その端を胴へ差し込み留めている。内側は、棕櫚毛(しゅろげ)を敷いた上に和紙を貼り、さらに黒漆を施している。底からは棕櫚毛が見える。
Sumitori of Susudake

This Sumitori is a type of furoyou (the portable brazier in summer) and was made of about 7 or 10 cm Susudake. The Sumitori has a base with a hemp leaf pattern plaiting and a body with loose plait. At the rim stitching, the bamboo which were plaited from the base, were rolled themselves as the foundation and the end of them were fixed to the body. At the inside, Japan paper(“Wa-shi”) was pasted on a spreaded Shuroge(fiber of a palm tree) and black lacquer was applied. The Syuroge is shown from the bottom.
