煤竹の濃淡ををうまく取り入れ全体を枡網代編み、三本網代編みで構成し、内側や底をに漆を何層も施す事により強度を付けた硯箱である。上段には硯と筆を入れ、下段には半紙などの料紙入れとなっている。
蓋は表面、側面共に枡網代編み、蓋を取ると二段重ねになっている
上段の側面は三本網代編み、内側は幅7~8mm程の枡網代編みで硯と筆を置くための竹が付けられている。内側の側面と裏側には何層もの漆が施されている
下段の側面は三本網代編み、底は枡網代編み、内側は何回もの漆が施されている
Suzuribako of Susudake

This Suzuribako(a box for a inkstone) was made by square twill plaiting and triple twill paliting, and it has light and shade patterns of Susudake on its surface.
A lot of layers of lacquer were applied inside and at the bottom, so the body strengthened.
It holds a inkstone and a pen in the top box and Japanese paper for calligraphy in the bottom box.
The surfece of the lid and the side were made by square twill plaiting. The box are built on two levels.
The side of the upper box was made by triple twill plaiting. A part of bamboo which held a inkstone and a pen was put on the inside with about 7 or 8 mm split bamboo. A lot of layers of lacquer was applied inside.
The side of the bottom box was made by triple twill plaiting and the base was made by square twill plaiting. A lot of layers of lacquer were applied inside.
