The shape of a Shiho-chiku is square. Nine part of bamboo which were cut same size and bended were arranged and joined with split rattan lines. Japanese paper which was colored by juice from a persimmon was applied at joints and a lot of layers of black laquer were applied inside. Both the bottom and the lid were cutted circle, and a knob of the top was made of silver wire. At the rim stitching, bamboo was attached inside to fit the lid, and clear lacquer was applied to the surface of the outside.
